Organist and Choir Master/Mistress, St Margaret’s Harpsden

Saint Margaret of Antioch Parish Church
Harpsden, Henley on Thames
Organist and Choir Mater/Mistress

St Margaret’s church is a small parish church just outside Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire. Our lovely choir mistress Sarah Seymour is moving out of the area with her husband. So alas, we are looking for a new organist/choir master/mistress.
The choir numbers on an average Sunday between 12 – 14 adults. SATB. We sing a variety of music from Hail Holy Queen (Sister Act) to traditional sacred music such as Tallis, Howells, and Stanford. The majority of our Sunday services are a Sung Eucharist at 9.30am. We normally have three sung evensongs a year.
There is a weekly choir practice which is currently held on Wednesdays at 12.30 but time and date could be changed. The choir meet at 9.00am on Sunday morning to go through the music for the service.
We are looking for a choir master/mistress to start in August 2019. We are very open to all comers. In the past we have had an undergraduate who stayed for 3 years and went on to Dublin Cathedral. We are a friendly bunch of singers who sing for our love of music, and our offering of worship. A salary of £4,500 is being offered, depending on experience. There are also wedding and funeral fees available to supplement the salary.
Please see below for the job description. Applications are via a CV, and then a formal interview and ‘meet the choir’ will take place. (Convenient date to be arranged.)
