Reverend Robert Thewsey, RectorReverend Robert Thewsey, Rector

Robert was born in Stretford, Greater Manchester, and went into banking straight from school. In 1999 he started his training for the Ministry at Ripon College in Cuddesdon, and was ordained in 2001 in Manchester.

He returned to Stretford as parish priest for a community he had known since birth. In 2008 he moved to Boscastle in Cornwall, where he looked after eight churches in the Boscastle and Tintagel area.

Robert was appointed Rector of the Shiplake,and Dunsden with Harpsden Benefice in September 2016. He is married to Margaret and they have two children, Matthew and Rebecca.


Reverend Michael ForrerReverend Michael Forrer

Michael joined the benefice team in 2013 after 12 years as Associate Vicar in St Andrew’s, Sonning. Prior to that he helped out in the Salisbury Diocese based in Marlborough.

Michael and Ying, having married in China, in 1997, returned to the UK in 1998 from Bangkok, Thailand, where Michael had been an associate priest on the staff of Christ Church, while having been involved in management consultancy in the secular world for the previous 30 years as a worker priest.

He was ordained in 1960 in Coventry Cathedral by his godfather who was bishop at that time. 3 years later, he was invited to join the Cathedral staff as an industrial Chaplin and a full time member of the oecumenical industrial mission team, representing all denominations from Roman Catholic to Lutheran. He was 8 years on the cathedral staff.

As a result of his secular experience, he is a specialist in Change Management and also helping organisation to be customer driven.

Michael and Ying have three boys, Timothy, Mark and David. They live in Woodley where Michael is also an elected local councillor.


Reverend Pam Gordon

Reverend Pam GordonParent and grandparent with Roy living in a household with pets – dog, cat, guinea pig, hamster, fish and Giant African Snail.

Admitted to Holy Orders as Deacon 2002, Priest 2003.

Member of The Order of Jacob’s Well, Wellspring Ministry Team Leader.

Ex-Teacher, Scout Leader, Volunteer in various charities offering listening and counsel.

Lived locally most of my life but enjoyed student days in Brighton and later, forays to ‘foreign’ parts.

Available for Benefice responsibility on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until Paul resigned, then lost the clock, diary and calendar.


Reverend Michael Seymour-Jones

Reverend Michael Seymour-JonesMichael is the Assistant Curate in the Parish of Shiplake with Dunsden and was priested in 2009. Originally from Lancashire, he has lived in Binfield Heath for 40 years and has been involved in the church all that time. He is married to Jean with 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. A lifetime Christian he thoroughly enjoys his ministry being Christ’s body here on earth.

Before he retired, Michael was a consultant in the logistics industry. He is a keen gardener and used to do a lot of wine making before he started training as a curate.




Reverend Sarah NesbittSarah Nesbitt

Sarah was ordained Deacon in June 2018. She trained on the Oxford Ministry Course at Ripon College, Cuddesdon and joins the benefice team as Assistant Curate on a part-time basis. She is a consultant to the consumer pharmaceutical industry, providing training services for community pharmacy.


Sarah lives in Crowmarsh Gifford near Wallingford with husband Andrew. They have two grown-up sons and all enjoy a variety of sports.
